Crizal Avancé with Scotchgard Protector is Essilor’s top of the line AR lens.
DALLAS—This month, Essilor of America is introducing new and improved Crizal Avancé lenses with Scotchgard Protector, the most advanced Crizal lenses to date. The new Crizal Avancé lenses with Scotchgard Protector offer all the features and benefits of the prior generation, plus an improved scratch resistant layer.

Essilor scientists have worked for over a decade to develop a proprietary technology known as “The Scratch Resistant Booster,” which has been integrated into new Crizal Avancé with Scotchgard Protector. As a result, the lenses are virtually scratch free and are well below the minimum acceptable threshold, even when compared against Essilor’s own benchmark.
After exposing a Crizal Avancé with Scotchgard Protector lens to an abrasive material in the Bayer ISTM Test, the difference in scratch resistance was easily visible, Essilor reported. After 600 cycles in the Bayer machine, Crizal Avancé lenses with Scotchgard Protector remained the clearest with the least amount of haze compared to all industry competitors, indicating it is the most scratch resistant and durable AR lens over time.
In addition, a test with steel wool showed that Crizal Avancé lenses with Scotchgard Protector exhibited excellent durability over time. After rubbing a Crizal Avancé lenses with Scotchgard Protector lens with steel wool 200 times in an automated machine, it still outperformed competitors, confirming the strength of the SR Booster. An independent study of eyeglass wearers confirmed Crizal Avancé lenses with Scotchgard Protector remain cleaner longer and are the easiest to clean when smudged with fingerprints, dust and dirt.
Independent tests show that new and improved Crizal Avancé lenses with Scotchgard Protector are twice as scratch resistant as Crizal Alizé and as scratch-resistant as a glass lens with AR. The new Crizal Avancé lenses with Scotchgard Protector also feature a slick super hydrophobic topcoat, which is achieved by Essilor’s High Surface Density (HSD) Process which tightly packs the top coat molecules so nothing can stick to the surface. Because of the HSD process, Crizal Avancé lenses with Scotchgard Protector keep more than 98 percent of their topcoat even after 20,000 cleanings, according to Essilor.
