Life is made up of moments that follow each other, constantly bringing something new. It is composed of different sensations and emotions, and our eyewear accompanies you on this fascinating journey, like a trusted accessory from which you never want to be separated. These are not just simple frames through which to observe the world, but instruments through which to enjoy every moment intensely, grasping even the smallest and most subtle of nuances.

This project is inspired by the Giorgio Armani eyewear collections of the Eighties. These are more than just reproductions of original models that rediscover the artisan quality of those collections and evoke the spirit of the traditional production methods used to make eyewear in the past. The initiative is also a strategic one, for which the main production lines, typical of those years, have been started up again. The result is a collection of eyewear that maintains a strong identity linked to how it is manufactured. At the time these were modern pieces, and now in a modern way we have rediscovered our roots. These are objects with a refined design, which accompany us in every moment of our lives. Strong choices require a sure taste, because no one forgets a look, and a pair of glasses.

Pure oval (GA 789) – A new edition of the classic, round optical frames that are strongly inspired by the ‘20s. Temples are characterised by a light tubular plastic decorative trim and a piston hinge. They are available in shades of black/ruthenium, glossy brown/brown and Havana/matt silver.

The event’s primary objective of increasing the awareness of both companies and citizens on the phenomenon of counterfeiting, intending to become a starting point for further initiatives to fight the marketing of fake goods, the organization said.

“In Venice, we decided to carry out an important protest demonstration,” explained Tabacchi. “On a floating platform in front of Palazzo Labia, in Campo San Geremia, more than 5,000 pairs of counterfeit glasses were destroyed by a steamroller, together with Murano glass and shoes, all representing the qualitative excellence of goods produced in northeastern Italy. A striking message to say ‘no to knock-offs!’”

According to the release, during the first nine months of last year alone, the Guardia di Finanza (the Italian Tax Police) confiscated more than 112 million fake products in Italy, recording a sharp increase in the fashion sector with more than 19.5 million pieces seized. Since industrial and commercial counterfeiting today represents 5 percent to 7 percent of worldwide trade, a release from ANFAO said, the turnover generated by this phenomenon is threatening the national and international economy and its short- and long-term development.

In addition to notable economic damage, counterfeit products also constitute a threat for consumer safety. For this reason, Italian eyewear, represented by ANFAO, has long been aware of this phenomenon and for years has been leading the fight against counterfeiting.

“Counterfeit sunglasses[and prescription glasses] expose eyes and vision to risks due to non-compliant lenses, and they can also bring on devastating allergic reactions to the skin caused by the materials used to make the frames,” Tabacchi explained.

MILAN - Madonna has teamed up with Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana to design a collection of sunglasses.

Dolce&Gabbana and Madonna present MDG: the first collection of sunglasses designed by the singer together with stylists Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The first six models will be launched May 2010.

Featuring the MDG logo, the collection will be produced by Luxottica and is Madonna’s debut in the world of eyewear.

The singer designed the collection in collaboration with Italy’s most famous designer duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and will also be the face of the MDG advertising campaign.

Fifty-one year old Madonna already appears in a campaign for the designers.

Bearing the MDG logo, the collection marks Madonna’s first foray into the world of eyewear. She has previously collaborated with high street brand Hennes & Mauritz for a clothing line.
